4 easy ways to bring Spring into your interiors

23rd April 2021

Finally, we can start waving goodbye to those grim grey skies as the sun has now properly got his hat on. There’s a reason we tend to feel a whole lot happier in spring – as daylight creatures, we hardwired to feel happier and more energetic in brighter and more comfortable weather. So it makes sense that you’d want to bring some of that into your home, too! Now, there are a couple of ways you can do that – one good one is obviously to switch out your loose sofa covers. But before we get to that, let’s look at a couple of other easy ways too.

Bring in plant life and natural scenes

With so many captivating plants blooming in spring, there’s literally no better time of year to incorporate some of your favourites into your interiors. Plant life can have a transformative effect on our mood and mental health, in ways that are often underestimated. By evoking the inherent beauty of the natural world, they can make us feel more relaxed, peaceful and happy, as well as bringing a welcome sense of texture to their surroundings.

Here at Cover My Furniture, we’d personally suggest flowers like tulips and daffodils, which are excellent for adding a splash of colour to your interiors. On the other hand, depending on your style, you might want to go for something a bit deeper and more sophisticated such as a succulent. It’s all up to you!

Let the sunshine in

We’ve already discussed above about how natural light can help us to feel so much happier and more energised. So when it comes to all that wonderful spring sunshine, it’s a great idea to get as much of it flooding into your home as possible. There are a couple of ways you can do this – you might want to think about rearranging your furniture if there are any tall wardrobes or sideboards blocking the sunlight. You can also switch your heavier winter curtains for some lighter and breezier springtime alternatives. (And of course, keep them open!)

Plus, when it’s warmer you can afford to keep the windows open more frequently and for greater lengths of time, so you can enjoy a fresh breeze blowing through your interiors! It might also be worth giving the windows a quick clean if they’ve accumulated any dirt or grime over winter.

Change out your furnishings

In the darkness and chill of winter, we tend to prioritise keeping ourselves comfortable and cosy – and the best way to do that is often with heavier and fluffier furnishings. However, when the weather starts to clear, and it gets lighter, brighter and warmer outside, those same winter furnishings can start to feel overly heavy and oppressive. So instead, it’s a great idea to change those fluffier furnishings with something that’s a bit lighter and cooler – so think cotton and linen rather than thick wool, for example. You might be surprised at how much you can transform your home just by making this simple change!

Switch up your colour scheme

Just the same as we tend to favour heavier furnishings in winter, we tend to favour darker and richer colours too, such as maroon, burgundy, gold and velvet. But we tend to associate Springtime with much lighter and airier colours, such as pastel blues, yellows, or greens – so it’s a great time to get some of that into your interior colour schemes! You can do this through little touches here and there, such as using fruit bowls to add a pop of more vibrant colour, or using some of the ways we’ve mentioned above, like plants and furnishings.

But one of the easiest and most effective ways, of course, is to simply switch up your loose sofa covers. As the main centrepiece of your living space, the colour and style of your sofa has a huge influence on the space surrounding it, so you just by changing up its look, you can really make a huge change to the mood and feel of the room!

And if that sounds good to you, you’re in exactly the right place. Here at Cover My Furniture, we take care to provide a comprehensive range of sofa covers and chair covers and more for you to choose from, so that you’ll always be able to find plenty of options to suit you.
