Types of foams and feather cushions
Not too sure on your foam from your feather? We’ve wrapped up all you need to know below…
Foam seat cushions
The ultimate easy care cushion. No plumping and with little maintenance, these will keep looking fresh for the foreseeable. All our foam cushions are wrapped in dacron and stockinette, and can be provided with a domed top and base for an extra plump look.
Feather seat cushions
100% duck feather cushions are ideal for back cushions and popular for seat cushions too. They do require plumping up but offer a softer, lighter and more luxurious cushion.
Rolled fibre for seat cushions
Fibre cushions provide a softer feeling than foam but are less pricey than feather. Rolled fibre does require plumping, but it’s worth it for the comfort they bring. All our rolled fibre cushions are made with an FR corovin cloth as standard.
Blown fibre for back cushions
Much like our rolled fibre, these cushions are softer than foam but more cost effective than feather. The fibre inside is shredded, giving them a feather like squash. All our rolled fibre cushions are made with an FR corovin cloth as standard.
Don’t forget, all our cushion infills come with a 1 year no quibble guarantee.

Frequently asked questionsSee all faqs
- Do I need to send you my current infills?
No, we don’t need you to send these to us. If we are creating new fitted furniture covers for you and you order infills from us, we will create the new cushion infills to fit within your handmade covers. This ensures a great fit, and handily means you won’t have to fit the cushion covers yourself! If you are ordering just infills from us, we can create these from a few handy measures, just get in touch for more info.
- How do I know which infill to choose?
This page has lots of information on the benefits of different types of infills but the decision comes down to personal preference. Generally we say that foam is the most supportive and easiest care option as it doesn’t require plumping, fibre cushions offer a softer seat and back than foam but require some plumping, and our 100% duck feather cushions provide the softest finish – the choice is yours!
- How do I care for my new infills?
Regularly turn your cushions and plump up any fibre and feather filled cushions to retain their comfort and appearance. New foam cushions lose up to 20% of their original firmness within the first few weeks of use, but this is quite normal and does not affect their long term comfort.
