Our story

At Cover My Furniture, we create bespoke, removable furniture covers made to fit the pieces you already know and love.

We’re a fourth-generation family business in the furniture industry. As part of the Plumbs family, established in 1953, we share the same team and experience, and over the years have worked with some of the best British furniture manufacturers, including Multiyork, Laura Ashley and Collins & Hayes.

We’ve always believed in reviving rather than replacing, breathing new life into pieces that are still in great condition but whose fabric may have seen better days. If you’ve had a piece of furniture for years, whether it’s something you chose carefully, holds sentimental value or that’s always been there, you’ll know it’s not always something you want to replace. Restoring it to its former glory gives it a new lease of life, keeps it looking its best, and is better for the environment!

Everything we create is made right here in Lancashire, where our expert team works through each set from start to finish with the same care and precision that’s been part of our work and history for four generations.

Our Heritage

We have over 60 years of experience making bespoke furniture covers. Our great-grandparents began making and selling sofa covers back in the 1950s, and it’s work that has stayed in the family ever since. Furniture may have changed a lot over the years, with far more styles, shapes and designs than there once were, but the principles behind what we do have remained much the same.

Using your existing covers as a template, we create new ones that follow the same shape and fit like a glove once they’re back in place. It’s an approach that has been carefully refined over time, for a fit and finish you’ll truly love – in a selection of beautiful, hardwearing fabrics.

British made

British made

Growing up surrounded by the furniture industry means we’ve always felt a special connection to how things are made and what it takes to get them right. That sense of care and attention runs through our own work today, from the wonderful people we choose to work with to the thoughtful materials we use – all inspired in no small part by our roots in Lancashire, the heart of the British textile industry.

The people behind the business

Driven by our shared vision and passion, Cover My Furniture is led by three sisters, working closely together across every part of the business and championing sustainable solutions for furniture recycling. It’s still very much a family setup, and that naturally carries through into our daily work!

We like to stay hands-on. From selecting fabrics to making sure every order is handled with care, we’re involved at every step. It’s the way we’ve always approached it, and it’s how we continue to work today.

Rachel

The eldest sister and a jack of all trades, Rachel is at the heart of Cover My Furniture, the helm of the ship and has a hand in just about everything that goes on.

Our Values
Our values

At Cover My Furniture, the way we run our business is just as important to us as what we produce. Our values aren’t something separate; they’re part of how we work day-to-day, from the decisions we make to the people we work with.

We care about doing things properly and about the environment we create around us. We’ve always believed that the culture of a business, and the people behind it, shape the end result just as much as the materials themselves. The way we work together, the standards we hold, and the care that goes into each step all find their way into every furniture cover we send out.

Our Products

What started with our grandparents making simple sofa covers has grown into a complete range designed to refresh and transform your furniture.

Today, we create bespoke sofa and chair covers, cushion covers and replacement infills. Alongside this, we offer a wide choice of beautiful, handpicked fabrics, many of which are machine washable and family-friendly, giving you a practical way to update your space.

We’ve also expanded our collection to include a full range of accessories to help you finish the look. From scatter cushions and infills to footstool covers, arm covers and throws, as well as bean bags, everything can be made to match your covers for a seamless result. It’s a flexible way to refresh, protect and restyle your furniture, built around how you actually live.

Quality

Quality sits at the heart of what we do. We want our customers to love the product they receive, knowing it’s been made just for them and finished to the standard they expect.

Every set is made with care and checked, checked and checked again before it leaves us, making sure the fit, finish and overall feel are just right before we pack it up for shipping. Nothing leaves us unless we’re completely happy with it, and that’s always been the way we work.

That’s why all of our covers come with a 5-year quality guarantee, along with 12 months on cushion infills. We’re confident in what we make, but just as importantly, we want you to feel that same confidence when it arrives!

Our-values
Our planet

Looking after the environment is something we’re very passionate about. Every year in the UK, millions of tonnes of household waste are produced, and over a million tonnes still end up in landfill. We’ve always believed that if a piece of furniture is still well-made and still has life in it, it deserves more than being thrown away simply because the fabric has worn or it no longer looks its best.

That’s a big part of why we do what we do. Every time we make new covers for an existing piece, it means something good can stay in use for longer, rather than being replaced before it needs to be. So often, it isn’t the furniture itself that’s finished, it’s just ready for a new chapter.

We also know that these choices add up. Keeping production in the UK, being thoughtful about how orders are packaged and sent out, and continuing to look at where we can do better all matter to us. We’re not interested in making grand statements for the sake of it. We just believe in doing our bit, in a way that feels considered, honest and true to how we’ve always worked.
